On August 12th, the RCMP Musical Ride rolled into Lac La Biche for the first time in 19 years. A few of the performers took the time to visit seniors’ homes in the area, including Golden Sands. The many residents who came outside were thrilled at the sight.

Excited and Joyful

The two RCMP officers in red serge rode their magnificent black horses into the courtyard of Golden Sands and interacted with residents and care partners. “Almost all of the residents came out to see the horses,” says Recreation Therapist Anoop Jose. “I took photos for them and they were excited and joyful to have this rare opportunity.”

The full 32-rider RCMP Musical Ride went on to give two performances at the Bold Centre in Lac La Biche the next day. General Manager, Iona Wolstenholme attended the evening performance and said it was absolutely fantastic.

Happy for the Visit

“Everyone was happy that they took time out of their busy schedule to come visit us,” Iona says. “However, there was some discussion as to who was going to clean up the nice warm parting gift they left in the courtyard on their way out!”
